We are not condemned. we are forgiven.
We see an example of this in the Book of Zechariah where he seen the vision of Joshua the high priest. Joshua stood before the Angel of The Lord and Satan stood at his right hand to oppose or resist him. The priest was clothed in filthy garments (sin) so I can only imagine that "the accuser" was there to shame him before God, but The LORD silences him saying, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?" The Angel (who was the pre-incarnate Christ) took away the filthy garments from him and clothed him in rich robes (His righteousness) [Zechariah 3:2-5].
Again we see satan at work in the lives of the Pharisees when they brought the adulteress woman before The Lord to condemn her. Jesus was in the temple preaching when they barged in and put her to an open shame. They did this, not because they cared about the law of Moses or the justice of God, but they sought an opportunity to accuse Jesus. My heart broke for this woman! Imagine someone seizing you and exposing your sin(s) to the whole congregation. God does not work this way.
Satan invades. God respects.
At this point, the people were ready to stone her when Jesus came to her defense and said, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." As the accusers dispersed He rose and said, "Where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" She responds and says, "No one Lord." He tells her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin more" [John 8:2-12].
So since we know that accusation is the enemy's greatest weapon against us, what shall we do about it?
- We stand on the Word of God.
- We extinguish the fiery darts of the devil with the shield of faith as we put on the weapons of our warfare (Ephesians 6).
- We confess our sins to God (1 John 1:9)
- We confess our sins to one another (James 5:16
